YT Level — YouTube Language Level Analyzer ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how the Extension handles your data.

Data Collection

The Extension does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

All operations are performed entirely locally on your device:

• Video transcripts are fetched and analyzed directly on your machine.
• AI analysis runs either via Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano or a local Ollama server you choose to run.
• No data is ever sent to external servers owned or operated by us.

What Data Is Stored Locally

The Extension uses chrome.storage.local to save the following information on your device only:

• User preferences: selected AI engine, language, Ollama model, and server URL.
• Cached CEFR results: previously analyzed video IDs and their levels, to avoid re-analysis.

This data never leaves your browser and can be cleared at any time via Chrome's extension settings.

Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates with one external service, only when necessary for its core functionality:

• Your Ollama server (optional) — if you choose to use Ollama, the transcript text is sent to the Ollama server URL you configure (e.g., http://localhost:11434). This server is entirely under your control.

No data is shared with any other third party.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
